If you are experiencing pain when chewing, strain when biting or have difficulty speaking because of misaligned or missing teeth, a dental bridge might be the perfect option for you. A bridge is a custom-made device used to replace a missing tooth or teeth by anchoring to neighboring teeth on either side. When a lost tooth is replaced with bridgework, the teeth on either side of the missing one are commonly prepared as they would be for a crown. The preparation of both teeth allows us to create sufficient space to accommodate the materials that will serve as abutments to hold the prosthetic tooth in place. If you have missing teeth, dental bridges may be the ideal procedure to help return your smile to its youthful beauty.

During your first appointment at our office, a small amount of tooth structure will be removed from the teeth surrounding the gap. An impression is then made and sent to a dental lab so the bridge can be custom fabricated. You will be fitted with a temporary bridge until your next visit, at which time the permanent dental bridge will be adjusted for comfort and cemented into place.

A dental bridge can do more than fill in gaps, correct speaking and chewing problems and increase strength when biting. When teeth drift, the change in your bite can result in a sore jaw, gum disease and decay.
